I finished Lunch Queen about two days ago, and embarked on Shiroi Kage. I managed to stop myself from watching after the first episode, since I had my first Jap lesson the next day, but last night, I could barely tear myself away from the computer.
It’s the first show in a long time where I didn’t get bored after 4-5 episodes, and start doing other stuff. I’m not really a fan of romance dramas that aren’t romantic comedies (ie, no humour) but Shiroi Kage was awesome. AWESOME.
Shiroi Kage (Love and Life in the White):
Starring: Nakai Masahiro, Takeuchi Yuko and others.
Synopsis (from Dramawiki):
Nobuko Shimura is on duty for the first time at Gyoda Hospital. The duty doctor is Yosuke Naoe. After 9PM Jiro Toda, a childhood friend of Nobuko’s, is brought in with a cut to his forehead from a fight. But Naoe has gone out for a drink, and can’ t be found. Both Toda and the ambulance crew become angry and demand to know where the doctor is. Naoe returns and seeing the commotion, he orders Toda be locked in a toilet until he calms down. Nobuko is horrified by Naoe’ s attitude but is later impressed with his ability as a surgeon when treating Toda’ s injury. This is their first fateful meeting…
Watched the 6th episode of Hotaru no Hikari last night, and finished off Lunch Queen today. Feeling mighty satisfied with the dramas I’ve been watching these days 😀 I figured I should start on the synopsis of episode 6 before I start on Shiroi Kage (or should I watch Ninkyo Helper first…?)
This week’s Hotaru no Hikari was great! It took on a slightly different tone from the weeks before and Hotaru becomes a more aggressive character. Seno is absolutely yummilicious and perfect this week, and I can’t help but hope (against all hope) that Hotaru ends up with Seno ): But a part of me is still cheering for buchou and telling him ganbatte ne?
What happened last week (SPOILERS!):
Last week’s episode was about Hotaru trying to be a good housewife after Seno plants the idea in her head. She eventually fails, but through this experience, Takano buchou reaches an epiphany and withdraws his proposal to Hotaru.
I can’t seem to get enough of Takeuchi Yuko – first I’m watching this show, then Lunch Queen, and the next show on my list is Shiroi Kage (White Shadow). Whoops, but I really want to watch Shiroi Kage because of Nakai Masahiro, not her. She just happens to be in the show as well. I’m trying to resist the temptation to jump straight to it and finish Lunch Queen first – because it’s really sweet and funny… Just that I’m starting to lack the patience and stamina to make it through a 12 episode show without getting fidgety :S
Short recap of last week’s episode:
Last week’s episode revolved, well, around nothing in particular but we slowly learn more about both characters, while building up new relationships between all the characters. Taiga has an embarrassing speech impediment, which he tries to overcome; Shiori is a single-mom with just enough to make ends meet. Shiori’s child, Umi is transferred to Daiki’s (Taiga’s brother) elementary school, and that forms a love triangle, or should I say a quadrangle? Taiga’s mom finds a photo of Shiori and Umi in Dad’s drawer and suspects he had an affair with her…
Episode 3 Synopsis + Comments (SPOILERS):
It appears I have zero motivation to continue watching Galileo now that I’m done with Shingo-kun’s ep >.< This is the other ongoing drama I’m catching ^^ Am not feeling hardworking enough to start off from episode 1, so I shall just start from where I’m watching now!
Hotaru no Hikari Season 2:
Main cast: Ayase Haruka, Fujiki Naohito, Mukai Osamu and others.
Synopsis of Season 1 (from Dramawiki):
Hotaru works for a famous interior design company. It’s a glamorous job but Hotaru’s private life is totally the opposite of glamorous. She lives alone, and when she isn’t working she’s mostly lazing about her rented house in training wear. She’s not interested in men. In fact, she isn’t interested in anything. “I’d rather lay around than fool around,” is her motto.
Her landlord is a bar owner, and one day his son, who has just separated from his wife, comes to inspect the rental property, not knowing that someone is living there. He is shocked at the mess, but not as shocked as Hotaru. He turns out to be her boss, Takano.
What has happened so far (SPOILERS!):
Finally got myself around to doing up the full synopsis of Natsuniji ep 2. Finding subbed SMAP varieties online is seriously distracting me – they’re just so freaking hilarious. I wish I had the linguistic ability to understand without subs but that’s why I’m gonna take up lessons (hurray!)
Okay short recap of last week’s episode:
As all first episodes generally go, we meet the main leads of the drama, Taiga and Shiori. Taiga is a second-rate actor with a famous father, and Shiori whom he meets by accident and becomes impossibly obsessed with, is a huge fan of his father. Taiga’s father then dies, and Shiori somehow joins the management company Taiga’s in. At the end of the episode, we learn that Shiori has a little girl! Oh, and if it isn’t obvious enough, Taiga tries to kiss Shiori 😄
Episode 2 Synopsis + Comments (SPOILERS):
Finally got around to catching Matsujun’s new drama (instead of doing up that Tsuki no Koibito review I promised myself I’d do)! Wouldn’t really have caught it except I saw that Takeuchi Yuko’s in it! (: (: Not that I don’t like Matsujun – I’ve watched Kimi wa Petto and HYD and he’s pretty good in them – but I’m not crazy, crazy over him. But him plus Takeuchi Yuko (who I think is soooo pretty after Bara no nai Hanaya) = Let’s give it a try! Plus the rest of the Summer dramas don’t look very exciting.
Natsu no Koi wa Nijiro ni Kagayaku:
Main cast: Matsumoto Jun, Takeuchi Yuko
Short Synopsis (Dramawiki):
Taiga is a struggling second-generation actor who has developed a complex due to his father, a famous actor in his time. Taiga, only get to appear in variety shows, most of the time. One day when his friend bring him out for a skydiving, a big wind dragg him away from the dropping point and he got stuck in a tree. A beautiful woman, Shiori (Takeuchi Yuko), come to rescue him. Shiori is a cheerful woman who laughs away all worries she has. She’s exactly the opposite of Taiga…
Episode 1 Synopsis + Comments (SPOILERS):
I love Christmas movies! Okay, it’s a few months too early for Christmas but I chanced upon this subbed X’smap special while looking for SMAP vids and it made me so happy! It’s not really a movie, just a 2-hour special, and the actual drama bit takes about an hour plus? It’s kind of a musical comedy Christmas thingy with SMAP, Hongo Kanata, some other boy (Hata Touya? I googled him but couldn’t find anything) and many other stars.
Leo and Tiger are two brothers on a mission to search for their sister, Hana, who has been adopted by evil painter Uji-san (played by Abe Hiroshi). On their way, they meet Curry-san (Kusanagi Tsuyoshi) who makes reindeer curry, a pair of brothers not unlike them (played by Kimura Takuya and Katori Shingo), and the funniest, coolest policeman ever (Nakai Masahiro). Inagaki Goro’s character, some rich owner of a department store, doesn’t really seem to tie in with the main story but he plays his part (:
